6/28/22 - Hi.  It's blog time.  I'm pumped up about this one.  Quick shout out to my good friends Brian and Elliot who I saw at my 40 year high school reunion on Saturday.  Elliot has the same mustache he had when we were both 15.  Still has it 40 years later.

He also still has the same shirt from high school.  It's a collector's item.  But ride prices have increased.

I couldn't sleep last night in prep for the long awaited AfriCAN trip.  I don't know what I'm most excited about.  Seeing gorillas?  Traveling with Sunshine, Pearls, Fiances, and Taubs or the anticipated travel day(s).  Whayyyyyy Jeff, it's a long flight.  Whayyyy you get to see gorillas.

LAX to Dohu.  Dohu to Johannesburg.   Lot's of talking about when to sleep?  When to eat?  When to drink?

Never been to Africa.  Never been on a Safari.  Never spent this much money to go to the zoo.

Special thanks to Fame for planning this amazing adventure.  We won't be able to thank her enough.  I'll try.  I know it's her labor of love.  But this one is going to be special.   We are flying Qatar Airlines.  Also, never have flown on Qatar.  Not what I expected.

So many movies to choose from.  Gorillas in the Mist?  Lion King?

I decided to get a head start to learn as much as possible.  It's a long flight.

I see why Tarzan chose Jane.  It was slim pickin's in the jungle.  It was either Jane or Nancy.  Nancy was raised by hyenas.  Great sense of humor, but no Jane.

I think Brad chose to watch The Lone Ranger.  Where's Tonto?

Starbucks in Qatar

We are spending our first couple days in Johannesburg.  Staying at the Peeches hotel.  It's an old hotel where Tarzan and Jane spent their honeymoon.  Peeches in South African translates to boutique style hotel similar to Palm Springs charm.

Jet lagged.  Wayyyy long flight.  It's a 9 hour time difference here.  We spent the first day napping, eating, drinking and napping.  Great to be here.  The Taubs arrive tomorrow.  The rest of us are hanging out.

Not many days where you just get to rest, unplug, feel grateful and relax.  Let's do this!

And let's not do too much of this.....
